The Internet Ombudsman has been involved in digital consumer protection for over 25 years. As a neutral and state-recognized consumer arbitration body, it mediates in matters relating to the digital sector.

These include problems with purchasing goods, canceling or returning goods, online payments, subscription traps, data protection and copyright issues, and online reviews.  

The Internet Ombudsman was established by the Austrian Institute for Applied Telecommunications (ÖIAT), It is supported by the Federal Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health, Care, and Consumer Protection and the Federal Chamber of Labor.
