Ombudsman service for payment problems with loans

The Federal Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health, Care, and Consumer Protection assists by means of the Ombudsman service for payment problems with loans consumers who are unable to pay their loan installments and cannot reach an agreement with their bank. The ombudsman service was set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to help consumers experiencing financial difficulties during the pandemic. Its primary goal is to find mutually acceptable solutions between banks and consumers and to provide legal assistance.

This excludes borrowers who have taken out a loan for agricultural or business purposes.
