Arbitration
and ombudsman offices

In Austria, Germany and Switzerland

The law implementing the EU Directive on Alternative Dispute Resolution in Consumer Matters has been in force since 2016. The aim is to give consumers throughout Europe access to out-of-court dispute resolution bodies in the event of disputes with companies. These bodies must meet certain requirements - for example in terms of expertise, independence, impartiality, transparency and a fair procedure - in order to be allowed to operate as recognised consumer arbitration bodies.
