The General Insurance OmbudService (GIO) deals with your complaints regarding insurance companies across Canada. 

The first step is trying to resolve your issue with your insurance company.

If you can’t reach an agreement with your insurance company, then the General Insurance OmbudService can support you with the following issues: 

  • Claims
  • Interpretation of policy coverage
  • Policy processing and handling

It’s important to note, that you need the final position letter from your insurance company on the issue to submit a complaint to the General Insurance OmbudService.
